Our Fleet

Our fleet of coaches with their distinctive white paintwork, silver ‘double S’ logo and trademark orange livery are a familiar sight throughout Perthshire, Dundee and Angus and further afield. Smith & Sons pride in their fleet is very obvious from their high standard. Our workshop’s regular safety checks and maintenance schedule coupled with our high VOSA pass rate reflects our ongoing commitment to this standard.

We offer 16, 29, 33, 45, 49, 53, 68 and 70 seat vehicles and many of our coaches offer P.A. systems, DVD/CD players, reclining seats, seat belts and air conditioning. We are proud to advise that two of our coaches are DDA compliant with hydraulic lifts for easy wheelchair access and it is our policy that all of our new coaches will be built in this manner when possible. Our 45 and 49 seat coaches also have galleys with cold storage and hot drinks dispensers and also toilet facilities on board. Our 68 and 70 seat single deck coaches were built initially for school contracts and although the interiors are finished to the same high standard as the rest of our coaches there is a little less space in them and the seats do not recline. They are also a little older than the rest of the fleet because they are used predominantly for school transport. However these vehicles, known affectionately as the ‘Easyjet’ of our coaches, offer extremely good value for money because of their carrying capacity and again are in great demand for weddings and concerts.

In 2009 we were excited to add two brand new DDA compliant Optare Versa buses with L.E.D destination boards to our fleet for use on the Park + Ride service at Broxden, Perth, added to those obtained in 2008. This contract for the Local Authority is perceived to be the flagship of the company due to its high profile and large number of passengers using the service. The regular service it supplies to the city centre 59 times each day keeps the life blood flowing in the arteries of the Western Expansion of Perth City as well as connecting many Stagecoach/Citylink passengers with the train and bus station. Seating 38 passengers with space for one wheelchair and a ramp for easy access these vehicles with their distinctive blue livery are ideal for city transport.
